Steganosaurus is a dissertation project exploring the application of video steganographic and video steganalysis techniques.
This dissertation project will investigate different methods for covertly encoding information in the audio and picture streams of video files. Steganalysis will be used to determine the effectiveness of the different techniques.
Steganography is derived from two Greek words, steganos, meaning covered or secret, and graphia, meaning writing. In simple terms, steganography is the art and science of hiding information in plain sight.
Steganography isn’t a word that crops up in most everyday discussions; a fair few people have thought that steganography has something to do with dinosaurs! Thus, the amalgamation of steganography and stegosaurus lead to the coinage and name of this project: steganosaurus.
